Georgia Mae Baker, 65, of Marietta, died Tuesday, September 17, 2013, at OSU Medical Center in Columbus. She was born December 28, 1947 in Williamstown, WV to Gertrude Erb and George Deems. She was later adopted by Minnie and Harry Baker. Georgia was a 1965 graduate of Marietta High School, and graduated from Washington State Community College in 1986 with a degree in Medical Transcription. She was a member of the River of Life Church and enjoyed spending time with her great grandchildren. She is survived by her daughter, Deidre "Dee" Murphy, grandchildren, Adam Murphy (Mariah West), Talarie Arnett and Parker Hines, twin great grandsons, Asher and Jackson Murphy, all of Marietta, brothers, Robert Deems of Williamstown, Mark Brooks of Marietta and Clyde Burchard of Arkansas. She was preceded in death by her sister, Donna Sarver and son, William A. "Tyke" Murphy. There will be a memorial service held for her at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, September 23, 2013, at the Marietta Chapel of Cawley & Peoples Funeral Home with Pastor George Gaskins officiating. Her family will greet friends from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. the morning of the service. Abiding with Georgia's wishes, she was cremated and her ashes will be buried at a later date in Stafford Cemetery.
