Glen Ward Thorne

June 10, 1922 — March 23, 2015

Glen W. (Pete) Thorne passed away at his home in Marietta on March 23, 2015. Glen was born the son of Carl G. Thorne and Cecile (Mankins) Thorne on June 10, 1922. He graduated from Marietta High School and attended Marietta College. Glen was part of the United States Navy's highly trained submarine force during WWII. He served aboard the USS Gato in the Pacific from 1943-1945.

Glen was preceded in death by his wife, Jean W. Thorne and his brother Maurice Thorne. Glen is survived by his brother Walter (Tom) Thorne who resides in Alabama, and many nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 11, 2015, at Gravel Bank Cemetery, with full military honors. The Marietta Chapel of Cawley & Peoples Funeral Home is assisting Pete's family with cremation arrangements.
