Gloria Mae Dempsey

Gloria Dempsey, 86, of Chamberlain Dr, Marietta, died at 9:15 p.m. on Thursday, February 26, 2009 at her residence. She was born January 26, 1923 in Philadelphia, PA to Joseph and Mae Merry Thomas. She married Joseph B. Dempsey on January 20, 1948. Gloria was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church and the Catholic Woman's Club. Gloria enjoyed reading, bowling and her family. She is survived by two sons, John J. Dempsey (Vicki) of Marietta and Thomas A. Dempsey (Cheryl) of Marietta; two granddaughters, Michelle Dempsey of Columbus and Colleen Matthews (Seth) of Lowell, and a great grandson, Gage Matthews. She was preceded in death by her husband on September 28, 2001 and a brother, Morris G. Thomas. Funeral Liturgy with Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, March 2, 2009 at St. Mary Catholic Church, with The Rev. Msgr. John Michael Campbell celebrating. Burial will be in Mound cemetery. Visitation will be on Sunday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Marietta Chapel of Cawley & Peoples Funeral Home. Donations may be made to St. Mary Catholic School, 320 Marion Street, Marietta, Ohio 45750.
