Grace Alta Martin, 88, formerly of Lowell, died Tuesday, January 17, 2012 at Harmar Place. She was born December 31, 1923 in Elizabeth, WV to John William and Ora Ethel Miller Miller. Grace had been a homemaker and had farmed all of her life. She had attended the Lowell Christian Church and was a member of the Lowell Senior Citizens. She enjoyed sewing, music and playing the dulcimer and fiddle. Grace is survived by four daughters, Ruth Moncrief (Lloyd) of Lowell, Wanda Isner Fisher (Scott) of Lower Salem, Jean Sloter (Gene) of Lowell, and Ethel Brooker (Fred) of Lowell, a son, Roger D. Martin (Judy) of Waterford, 13 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren, one great great grandchild, four sisters, Mildred Via of Mineral Wells, WV, Edith Edman of Parkersburg, WV, Maxine Tuttle of St. Marys, WV, and Lena Bryant of Parkersburg, WV, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Russell Hayes Martin on November 24, 1986, two sisters, Hazel and Flossie Miller, a brother, William Miller, a daughter in law, Sue Martin, and a son in law, John Isner. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 21, 2012, at the Lowell Chapel of Cawley & Peoples Funeral Home, with Rob Tuttle officiating.
