Grayce Frances La Sala, 96, of Marietta, died Thursday, March 19, 2009, at Marietta Memorial Hospital. She was born June 15, 1912 in New York City, NY to George Greer Bates and Edith Burke Bates. She became a member of St. Mary Catholic Church on March 31, 1991, through the RCIA program. She was a member of the Marietta Women's Club, where she had held the offices of president and secretary. Grayce was one of the two surviving members of that club. She used to teach Sunday School and was the leader of the Girls Friendly Association of the Episcopal Church. Grayce is survived by her son, Albert La Sala, Jr. (Elizabeth) of Sublimity, OR and her daughter, Marilyn Ann Sarti of Vancouver, British Columbia, nine grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, two great great grandchildren, her sister, Elizabeth Laibach of New York City and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Albert M. La Sala on April 24, 1990, they had been married on June 17, 1929, also by a son, Francis G. La Sala. Funeral Liturgy, with Mass, will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, March 24, 2009, at St. Mary Catholic Church, with the Rev. Msgr. John Michael Campbell as celebrant. Burial will be in New St. Mary's Cemetery. Friends may call at the Marietta Chapel of Cawley & Peoples Funeral Home on Monday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., where there will be a Vigil Service at 3:00 p.m.
