Harley D. Rood, 61, of Bartlett, died March 1, 2014, at Marietta Memorial Hospital. Born February 28, 1953 in Parkersburg, he was the son of Alma Tucker Rood, of Coolville, and the late Carl Rood.
Harley had retired as a welder for Chick Masters, in Massillon, OH. He enjoyed time spent with his friends, square dancing and listening to bluegrass music. He liked to hunt and fish, too. Harley also was a friend and helper to many in Creston, OH, where he had lived for nearly thirty years.
Surviving in addition to his mother, are three sisters, Elizabeth Horton (Butch) of Bartlett, Garnet Kay Lipps (Gale) of Vincent, Garland Fay Smith (Richard) of Cambridge, and a brother, Curtis Rood (Connie) of Coolville. Also surviving is a sister-in-law, Gloria Rood of Coolville and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father and one brother, Ed Rood.
Funeral services will be held 11:00am Wednesday, March 5, 2014, at the Barlow Chapel of Cawley & Peoples Funeral Home, with the Rev. Art Tucker officiating. Burial will be in Bartlett Cemetery. The family will greet friends on Tuesday, from 5-8 pm.
