Harry Barengo

Harry Barengo, 83, of Marietta, died Tuesday, June 9, 2015, at his home. He was born October 20, 1931 in Bannock, Ohio to Thomas and Teresa Cordera Barengo. Harry was a 1950 graduate of Lafferty High School and received his BS degree from Bowling Green State University in 1957. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of Korea serving from 1950 to 1954. The Barengos moved to Marietta in 1958 and in October of 1964 he founded Barengo Insurance Agency. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church. Harry devoted many hours to his community through various philanthropic organizations, including serving many years at Marietta Memorial Hospital. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Ilene Graham Barengo. They were married on June 4, 1955. Also surviving are his two sons, Randall Barengo (Nancy) and Jimmers Barengo (Susan), of Marietta; five grandchildren, Melinda Bichard (J.J.), LeAnne Barengo-Hillman (Rand), Thomas Barengo (Brandy), Alex Barengo (Erin Casey), and Eric Barengo (Jenna Hanner); four great grandchildren, Emily, Dominick, Bailey and Connor; sister, Helen Keltner ; brother, Ronald Barengo (Maxine), and a special nephew, Jonathan Graham, MD (Martha). Friends may call at the Marietta Chapel of Cawley & Peoples Funeral Home on Thursday from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. His funeral will be at 11:00 a.m. on Friday at the First Presbyterian Church in Marietta with the Rev. David Smith officiating. Burial will be in Mound Cemetery, with full military honors.
