Helen Lucille Perry, 86, of Barlow, died Friday, March 4, 2011, at Marietta Memorial Hospital. She was born November 9, 1924 in Layman, Washington County, Ohio to Carl and Margaret Mayhugh Bowman. She had received her LPN degree from Washington County Career Center and had worked at Marietta Memorial Hospital and Fairview Manor Nursing Home in Beverly. Helen was a member of the Lighthouse Baptist Church, Eastern Star and many community services and several veteran organizations. She had been a radio dispatcher for the Barlow VFD for 25 years. Helen is survived by her four children, Howard "Jim" Perry (Artie) of Beverly, Sheila Jarrells (Greg) of Fairborn, Linda Miller (Ron) of Lowell and Carl Perry (Susan) of Barlow, five grandchildren, Shawn Urschel (Deb), Melissa Sullivan (Brad) Mindy Layson (Tim Niceswanger), Shannon Ball (Shawn Lawson) and Brad Offenberger (Megan), and seven great grandchildren, Brandon and Cole Looney, Sierra Layson, Savannah and Samuel Offenberger, and Josianna and Allan James "A.J." Sullivan. She was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur James "A.J." Perry on June 29, 1988, they had been married April of 1942, also preceded by a sister Juanita Dodgins and brother, Dexter Bowman. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, March 9, 2011, at the Barlow Chapel of Cawley & Peoples Funeral Home, with Dr. A.C. Smith officiating. The family will greet friends for one hour prior to her service. Burial will be at Evergreen Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to Barlow VFD, L-A Fire & Rescue or any local food pantry.
