Homer Gerald Cook, 83, of Marietta, died Wednesday, October 27, 2010. He was born June 17, 1927 in Williamstown, WV to Homer and Isabelle Rake Cook. He was a retired auto mechanic and had worked at Marietta Ignition. Homer was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, serving from December, 1945 to June, 1947. He is survived by three sons, Ken of Ft. Lauderdale, FL, Francis of Tampa, FL and Gerald of Columbus, a daughter, Geraldine Shilling (Rick) of Whipple, and two nephews, Ron Coss of Reno and Cecil Cook of Vienna, WV. He was preceded in death by a sister, Annabelle Coss. Services will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Monday, November 1, 2010, in the chapel at East Lawn Memorial Park with The Rev. Msgr. John Michael Campbell officiating. There will be full military honors at the cemetery. Family to receive friends Monday from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at the Marietta Chapel of Cawley & Peoples Funeral Home.
