Homer Caldwell Rice

Homer Caldwell Rice, 87, of Marietta, died Tuesday, June 2, 2015, at his home. He was born January 15, 1928 in Belmont to Franklin Homer and Stella Odessa Caldwell Rice. He was a graduate of Belmont High School and the Elliot School of Business. Homer was a U.S. Army veteran of Korea. Over the years he was involved in many different civic organizations. He enjoyed taking care of his yard and loved walking his dog. Homer is survived by his wife, Mary Grier Rice, they were married on September 12, 1955; also by three sons, Frank (Francie) of Miami, FL, Fred (Susan) of Lutz, FL and Phil of Raleigh, NC; four grandchildren, Hallie, Tyler, Margo and Shane; a brother, Charles (Jan) of Warren, Ohio and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Helen Bellinger and Wilma Williams. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, June 5, 2015, at the Marietta Chapel of Cawley & Peoples Funeral Home. The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service. Burial of his ashes will be at East Lawn Memorial Park, with full military honors. Donations may be made to National Parkinson Foundation, P.O. Box 5018, Hagerstown, MD 21741.
