J. Michael Harding, 59, died Saturday, July 2, 2011, in Morgan County. He was born on November 2, 1951 in Granville County, NC, to Robert Lee and Willia Marie Long Harding, Sr. Michael received in PhD in Clinical Psychology from the University of North Carolina, Greensboro, and completed his undergraduate degree in Psychology at Davidson College. Michael was the head of the Counseling Center at Marietta College and was self employed, working with the court systems here in Washington County. He was a very active man who loved to play tennis, walk and jog. He is survived by his wife, Dr. Brenda Jones; daughter, Jessica Harding, a graduate student at Indiana University; two brothers, Ronald Harding (Sandra) of Charlotte, NC, and Clyde Harding (Ruth) of Oxford, NC; four sisters, Kathleen Landis of Butner, NC, Emily Washington of Washington D.C., Rosa Marie Harding of Butner, NC, and Vivian Hampton-Harding of Greensboro, NC; and a host of nieces, nephews and extended family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Robert Lee Harding, Jr. and Warren Harding. Memorial services will be held 11:00 am Tuesday, July 5, 2011 in the McDonough Leadership Center, on the campus of Marietta College.
