Jack Louis Iams, 90, of Marietta, Ohio, died on Thursday, November 7, 2019 at Marietta Memorial Hospital. He was born on June 1, 1929 in Marietta, to Hillis D. and Wilda Lindamood Iams.
Jack graduated from Marietta High School in 1947, Marietta College in 1951 and the University of Cincinnati in 1956, College of Applied Arts, majoring in architecture. He served in the United States Air Force from 1956 to 1959 as a Housing Project Officer. Jack practiced architecture in Marietta and Columbus, Ohio for over 44 years, restoring and designing numerous structures in the area, including "The Castle" and river front condominiums. He was a lifetime member of the Trinity Methodist Church, Christ United Methodist Church and American Union Lodge #1 F & AM. Jack was also a member of the American Institute of Architects, Columbus Chapter and the National Trust for Historic Preservation.
He will be missed by Betty Lindamood, his cousin, and by his many friends.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, November 11, 2019 at the Marietta Chapel of Cawley & Peoples Funeral Home, with Patricia L. Peoples officiating. Burial will follow in Mound Cemetery. Visitation will be on Sunday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
