James Lee Duvall

James Lee Duvall, 95, of Williamstown, WV, passed away Friday, March 22, 2013 in Marietta, Ohio. He was born on September 27, 1917 to the Late Lee Allen and Julia Farley Duvall. Jim was WWII veteran, serving in the 12th Armored Division, and received the Purple Heart. Jim married Kate L. Norman on August 25, 1942. He retired from Gulf Oil and Chemical, Marietta, in 1983. Jim was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, a lifetime member of the American Legion, Post 159, charter member of the Boaz Lions Club and former commissioner of the Central Boaz Public Service District. He enjoyed gardening and helped in many civic activities, above and beyond what organizations he was a member of. He is survived by his daughter, Rebecca Deem (Michael) of Ripley, WV, two sons, Timothy Duvall (Susan) of Williamstown, and Joseph Duvall of Williamstown, three grandchildren, Chad Duvall, Michelle Winnell, and Jason Deem, three great grandchildren, Thaddeous Duvall, Cayla Smith and Grace Winnell, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife on September 8, 2012, and five sisters, Mildred Sutton, Catherine Duvall, Betty Mayo, Judy Wilson and Dorothy Duvall. Funeral Liturgy with Mass will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 27 , 2013 at St. Mary Catholic Church, with the Rev. Christopher Foxhaven celebrating. Burial will follow in Riverview Cemetery in Williamstown, with full military honors being observed. Visitation will be at the Marietta Chapel of Cawley & Peoples Funeral Home, on Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. and on Wednesday for two hours prior to the services. Memorial contributions may be made to the Boaz Lions Club.
