James Burgess Lenhart

March 1, 1942 — April 9, 2020

James Burgess Lenhart, 78, of Lowell, Ohio, passed away Thursday, April 9, 2020. He was born on March 1, 1942 in Marietta, Ohio to Joseph Burgess Lenhart and Mildred Irene (Landerman) Lenhart.

Jim attended Marietta High School. Early on he worked at his family's pottery business; American Pottery Co. (APCO) located in Marietta, Ohio. He spent the rest of his working career as a Master Craftsman. Jim was a member of the Lowell United Methodist Church and proudly served on the board of a multitude of organizations in his lifetime including the L-A Joint Fire District for 24 years, the Lowell Village Council & the Octoberfest Committee. He loved spending time with his family, sharing his love for his church with his grandkids, visiting Amish Country, long drives, playing bingo, cookouts and the beach.

He is survived by his four children, Sherri Padgitt, Scott Lenhart (Vicky), Doug Lenhart (Stephanie) and Susan Ginther. He is also survived by nine grandchildren, Erin Miller (Jason), Amanda Clark (Jonas), Taylor Padgitt, Michael, Thomas and Steven Lenhart and Derek, Brent and Mitchell Ginther; great-grandchildren, Mikenna, Aisley & Adelynn Clark; half-sister Debbie Smith & stepsister Virginia Simpson.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn Tanya (Karcher) Lenhart; his parents; stepmother, Violet (Hollandsworth) Lenhart; brothers, John & David Lenhart and son-in-law, Timothy Ginther.

Unfortunately, at this time, memorial & burial services are being restricted by state guidelines to immediate family only and unable to accept flowers. In lieu of flowers, donations & memorial contributions can be made directly to Cawley and Peoples at P.O. Box 400, Lowell, OH 45744.

Private burial services will be in the Newport Cemetery. Family will have a celebration in honor of Jim's life once restrictions have been lifted at the Lowell United Methodist Church Hall.
