James Joseph O'Connell

James Joseph "Jimmy" O'Connell, 52, of Marietta, died Friday, November 27, 2009, at his residence. He was born November 23, 1957 in Marietta to Francis Dillon and Mary Margaret Gibbons O'Connell. He was a 1976 graduate of Marietta High School and had received two associate degrees in Business and Electronics Technology from Washington State Community College. He was a U.S. veteran of the Marine Corps, being honorably discharged as a Lance Corporal. He was a former member of the Elk and Moose lodges in Marietta. Jimmy had been baptized at St. Mary Catholic Church and attended St. Mary's School as a child. Surviving are two sons, James Dillon and Gabriel James O'Connell; daughter, Erin Delaney O'Connell, all of Marietta; three sisters, Mary Margaret "Peg" O'Connell of Raleigh, NC, Grace O'Connell Pritchett and Patricia "Tish" O'Connell Eddy (Aaron), both of Marietta and two nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant brother, Francis Dillon O'Connell, Jr. A memorial service will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 2, 2009, at the Marietta Chapel of Cawley & Peoples Funeral Home, with Roger Rush officiating. His family will greet friends from 4 up until time of the services on Wednesday. His ashes will be buried with his parents at New St. Mary's Cemetery.
