James Thomas Robinson, 89, of Fleming, Ohio, died on Friday, September 20, 2024 at his home. He was born on May 21, 1935 in Cairo, WV, to Rolan Owen and Hazel Layfield Robinson.
Jim graduated from Cairo High School in 1953 and went to Glenville State College for two years. He was a jet mechanic in United States Marines. Jim was a farmer and worked for Dravo through the Plumbers and Pipefitters Union. He enjoyed woodworking, making toys, dolls and trucks for the kids and donated them to child care at the YMCA. Jim loved his grandkids most of all and played baseball in a semi pro league in Williamstown, as a left-handed pitcher.
He is survived by four children, James Thomas Robinson, Jr. (Pegi) of Longbottom, OH, Jerry A. Robinson (Brenda) of Colorado Springs, CO, Julie Mock (Stephen) of Lancaster, OH and Joseph Robinson (Shannon) of Grafton, WV; 26 grandchildren, 48 great grandchildren; two brothers, Don (Joan) Robinson and Larry (Laura) Robinson; two brothers-in-law, Roger and Thomas Rowell; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Janice Marie Rowell Robinson, whom he married on May 29, 1960; his son, Jeffrey Owen Robinson; and two sisters, Katherine Paugh and Elaine Bradley.
Funeral Services will be 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 24, 2024 at the MARIETTA CHAPEL OF CAWLEY & PEOPLES FUNERAL HOME. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery, with full military honors. The family will greet friends for two hours prior to services on Tuesday.
