James Edward Schoeppner Jr.

James Edward Schoeppner Jr., a beloved member of the Barlow, OH community, passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 9, 2024, at the age of 66. Born in Marietta, Ohio, on February 20, 1958, James was the cherished son of Helen Lucille Clegg Schoeppner and James Edward Schoeppner Sr.. James was a dedicated family man to his father and mother and a compassionate caregiver whose warmth and kindness left an indelible mark on all who knew him.

He attended Marietta High School, graduating in 1976, and pursued his interest in the HVAC program at the Washington County Career Center. James dedicated over eleven years to serving others as a caregiver, especially for Mrs. Margie Greenlees, where he demonstrated his selfless nature and deep compassion.

James had a profound love for the great outdoors and spent many joyful days hunting and fishing. He was an active member of the Survivors Network of those Abused by Priests, advocating for justice and support for others. His gentle spirit and commitment to his passions and causes were inspirational to many.

He leaves behind his devoted parents, sister Cynthia Jo, caring aunts, uncles, and numerous cousins who will miss him dearly.

James was preceded in death by his loving grandparents, Sam and Virginia Schoeppner, John and Ollie Clegg, and his faithful cousin, Bobby John Schoeppner.

A funeral service to honor James's life will be held at the Marietta Chapel of Cawley & Peoples Funeral Home in Marietta, Ohio, on Friday, November 15, 2024, at 1:00 pm with Pastor Matthew Stahl officiating. Visitation will take place from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm prior to the service. Following the service a graveside service will take place at Salem Township Cemetery where family and friends will gather to celebrate James's life and bid him a heartfelt farewell. James's empathetic nature and vibrant spirit will forever be remembered in the hearts of those who loved him.
