James W. Wagner, 91, of Cincinnati, and formerly of Lowell and Marietta, died Wednesday, May 18, 2016, under hospice care in Cincinnati. He was born December 3, 1924 in Marietta to Herman W. and Kathryn M. Rice Wagner. James was a graduate of Lowell High School and attended service schools in Niagara Falls, NY. He had worked as a plumber and pipefitter through Local #168, Marietta, and had owned Wagner Plumbing and Heating in Marietta for 15 years. He was a veteran of WWII, serving as a fighter pilot in the U.S. Air Force from December of 1942 to August of 1947, where he flew P51 planes. James was a member of the Valley of Cambridge Scottish Rite as a 32nd Degree Mason, for 60 years, the American Legion, Post 64, Marietta, and Post 425 in Cheviot, as a life member for 52 years, and he was a member of VFW Post 5108, in Marietta. James is survived by his daughter, Sandra Bishman (Dennis Kish), of Nelsonville, granddaughter, Kim Fields (John) of Columbus, great granddaughters, Kate and Elizabeth Fields and two brothers, Earl of Lowell and Paul of Marietta. He was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia Cross Wagner, on May 22, 2010, a daughter, Janis K. Wagner, on January 6, 2016, three brothers and four sisters.
