Jane E. Morris

Jane Elizabeth Morris, a beloved educator and cherished friend, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 7, 2025, at the age of 84. She was born on November 28, 1940, in Marietta, Ohio to Harold Watson Morris and LaRue Graham Morris.

Jane was a proud graduate of Marietta High School in 1958, and she continued her education at Marietta College where she was affiliated with Alpha Xi Delta, earning her undergraduate degree in 1962. Her passion for teaching led her to Kent State University, where she obtained her Master's Degree in 1970. Jane dedicated her career to educating young minds, teaching Home Economics for Chagrin Falls School District, where she inspired countless students with her knowledge and compassion.

A woman of many interests, Jane was actively involved in several organizations, including the Daughters of the American Revolution, Daughters of Union Veterans, PEO Sisterhood, Eastern Star, and the National Society of Arts & Letters. Her love for animals was well-known, and she was a staunch supporter of the Humane Society of the Mid Ohio Valley. Jane was a member of Christ United Methodist Church in Marietta, Ohio where she will be remembered for her dedication and her unwavering kindness to her community. She will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

She is survived by her special friends Mary "Kay" Rowekamp, Carol Bergen, Linda (Robert) Rhoads, and her cousin James (Linda) Graham, who will all miss her dearly.

Jane was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers Dr. James (Virginia) Morris and William H. Morris, and her special friend Diane Elliott.

A funeral service will be held at the MARIETTA CHAPEL OF CAWLEY & PEOPLES FUNERAL HOMES in Marietta, Ohio, on Monday, January 13, 2025, at 1:00 pm with the Rev. Patricia Vargas officiating. Visitation will take place two hours prior to the service from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm at the funeral home. A graveside service will take place at Mound Cemetery in Marietta, Ohio, at 2:00 pm.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Humane Society of the Mid Ohio Valley, 90 Mount Tom Road, Marietta, OH  45750, reflecting Jane's lifelong love for animals.
