Jane Reps Putnam

Jane Reps Putnam, 79, of Chapel Ave., Marietta, died Sunday, January 17, 2010, at her home, following a long illness. She was born June 14, 1930 in Parkersburg, WV to R. Paul and Estelle Chancellor Reps. She was a graduate of Parkersburg High School and had attended Hanamore Academy in Baltimore, MD and West Virginia University. She graduated from Southern Seminary. Early in her life, she had taught first grade and kindergarten at Roosevelt Grade School in South Parkersburg. She was a member of the Junior League in Parkersburg. Jane loved to golf and was a member of the Marietta Country Club. She loved her family, which includes her husband, William H. Putnam, whom she married June 18, 1955; her two daughters, Anne Estelle Weihl and Hannah Putnam, both of Marietta; her son, William, Jr. (and special friend, Cindy Hooper) of Marietta; three grandsons, Harrington, Hayden, and Holden Weihl; two sisters, Anne Cogswell (Harry) of Marietta and Myra Couch of Parkersburg, as well as many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, and a grandson, Davis Weihl. Funeral services will be at the Marietta Chapel of Cawley & Peoples Funeral Home on Thursday, January 21, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. Friends may call on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Private burial will be in Mound Cemetery.
