Janice Lee McCune Bertram, 79, Marietta, died Friday morning, December 4, 2015 at her home, surrounded by family. Born March 30, 1936 in Dayton, Ohio, she was a daughter of the late Roy and Jeannette Messek McCune. She was a 1954 graduate of Fairmont High School in Dayton, and a 1959 graduate of The Ohio State University, School of Dentistry, where she was a member of Alpha Phi Sorority. Jan had been an active member of First Congregational United Church of Christ, where she served on several boards. Jan also had served in various capacities on the boards of Marietta Memorial Hospital and Washington County Children's Services. She also had been a member of the Marietta Welfare League. Jan enjoyed time spent at home, the former Briargate Farms, and had a fondness for raising her horses. She and her husband, Paul, enjoyed traveling throughout the country, having visited all 50 states. She and Paul had various business interests in the community, including Crystal Ice House, the Briargate Inns, Bertram Development, the Pine Meadows development, Two Rivers Realty, MKB Leasing and New Weihl Oldsmobile. Jan is survived by her two sons, Paul G. Bertram, III (Joyce) and Seth Bertram (Melanie), all of Marietta; seven grandchildren, Christina, Eric, Adam, Garrett, Matthew, Sullivan and Murphy; a brother, James McCune, San Diego, CA; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was married July 5, 1958 to Paul G. Bertram, Jr., who preceded her in death October 7, 2012. Funeral services for Jan will be held 11:00 am Thursday, December 10, 2015 at First Congregational Church, with the Rev. Linda Steelman of?ciating. Her family will greet friends at the Marietta Chapel of Cawley & Peoples Funeral Home on Wednesday, from 4-8 pm.
