Janice Kay Pottmeyer, 73, of Lowell, Ohio, died Saturday, April, 23, 2016 at Marietta Memorial Hospital.
Janice was born August 29, 1942, in Zanesville Ohio, daughter of late Edward Uttermohlen. Janice graduated from Fort Frye High School in 1960 and she is a graduate of Marietta College. She retired from Marietta College in 2006 after 27 years of service.
She devoted her life to her family and helping others. She taught First Communion at Our Lady of Mercy for over 20 years where she also coordinated the religious education program. She started the first multiple sclerosis support group and support walk in Marietta, Ohio, where she touched the lives of so many. When she was no longer able to lead the support group she continued to support others with the disease.
She survived by her three children, Keith Pottmeyer, Lowell, Tina Weckbacher (Rex), Marietta, Tami Snider (Mike), Williamstown, also considered her children, Kelly Collins, Rex Pottmeyer (Nedra), Todd Pottmeyer (Robin); siblings, Edward Uttermohlen, Wheeling, James Uttermohlen (Nada), Venice, FL, Sister-in-law Janet Uttermohlen, Wheeling, Fred Sheppard (JoEtta), Sterling, Ohio, Glady Lemity, Wheeling; Grandchildren, Daniel Pottmeyer, James Pottmeyer (Jessica Baker), David and Stacy Pottmeyer, Stewart Lane; Great Grandchildren, Arianna, Lainya, and Emiliano Pottmeyer.
She was preceded in death by her husband Joseph Pottmeyer, brother, Ray Uttermohlen, and many other loved ones.
Funeral Liturgy with Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, April 27, 2016 at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church in Lowell, with The Rev. Timothy Shannon celebrating. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 5 to 9 p.m. at the Lowell Chapel of Cawley & Peoples Funeral Home, with a Vigil service held at 8:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
