Jason Oneil Lowther

Jason "Jay" Oneil Lowther, 39, of Marietta, Ohio, died after an extended illness, Sunday, May 19, 2019 at Cleveland Clinic. He was born in New Jersey July 13, 1979 to James Alvin and Edna Louise Layfield Lowther.

Jay attended Bergen County Tech, NJ and graduated from Ritchie County High School in 1998. He received his associate's degree in Applied Science Computer Systems/Computer Graphics from Washington State Community College in 2009. Jay worked in the IT Department at Washington State Community College from 2008-2016. Starting in 2016, he went on to work in the IT Department for the Bureau of Fiscal Services. Jay enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, playing the guitar, video games and collecting comic books. It was rare to see him without a smile and he had an infectious laugh. He was an amazing, loving and dedicated husband, brother and friend.

He is survived by his father of Davisville, WV; wife, Julie Schaad Lowther, whom he married on April 29, 2006; siblings, Linda Berwanger of Davisville, James "Pat" Lowther (Mary) of Parkersburg, WV, and Larry Lowther (Laura) of Mineral Wells, WV; parents-in-law, Tom & Janet Schaad of Marietta; and brother-in-law, Rick Schaad (Ashley) of Marietta; many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his mother.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 23, 2019 at the Marietta Chapel of Cawley & Peoples Funeral home, with The Rev. John Michael Campbell officiating. Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday. Donations may be made in his memory to The Humane Society of the Ohio Valley.
