Jean Elizabeth Brown, 78, of Marietta, died Saturday, September 5, 2015, at Marietta Memorial Hospital. She was born November 21, 1936 in Lowell to Leland Stanley and Mary Florence Barlow McCarty. She was a 1954 graduate of Lowell High School. Jean was active at the O'Neill Senior Center where she enjoyed a variety of activities, especially chair volleyball. She followed OSU football and basketball closely. She most enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She is survived by four children, Cindy Pottmeyer (Ken) of Churchtown, Mike Brown (Gloria) of Williamstown, WV, Tracey Wynn (Rich) of Fleming and Stephanie Leach (Steve) of Columbus; 12 grandchildren, Lacey Lauchard, Nick, Derrick and Alex Pottmeyer, Anne Taylor, Michael and Amanda Brown, Taylor Casto, Morgan Dutton, Stephen, Stacey and Stewart Leach; 14 great grandchildren; step grandchildren, Adam, Colt and Easton Wynn and many nieces and nephews. Jean was preceded in death by her parents, sister, Marty Dimit, and brother, David McCarty. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 9, 2015, at the Lowell Chapel of Cawley & Peoples Funeral Home. Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. up until time of service on Wednesday. Her burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery in Lowell.
