Jean Stacy DeLong
Jean Stacy DeLong, 86, of Muskingum River Road, Lowell, died Saturday, April 18, 2009, at her home. She was born January 5, 1923 in Marietta to Lloyd S. and Lena Doak Stacy. She was a 1940 graduate of Lowell High School and had attended the Ohio State University. She had retired from The Marietta Times. Jean was a charter member of the Harmar Hill Church of Christ. She was also a member of the Washington County Historical Society, Lowell Eastern Star #272, and Lowell Grange. She enjoyed genealogy, gardening, and being a hospital volunteer. Jean is survived by two sons, Ronald DeLong (Jean) of Chula Vista, CA and John S. DeLong (Carol) of Greenville, NC; a daughter, Susan Thomas of Kansas City, MO; three grandchildren, Stacy Kearney (Brian) of Kansas City, John S. DeLong II (Angie) of West Point, NY and Robert DeLong (Amy) of Sparks, NV; a brother Frank Stacy (Marjorie) of Lowell; 3.85 great grandchildren and nine nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John Henry DeLong on February 25, 1999, they had been married on September 11, 1942; also by a son, Joe DeLong and a sister, Virginia Stacy. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 23, 2009, at the Lowell Chapel of Cawley & Peoples Funeral Home with Minister J.D. Conley officiating. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery. Friends may call on Wednesday from 6 to 9 p.m. and also for one hour prior to the service on Thursday. Donations may be made to Marietta Hospice, P.O.
