Jeanne Ann Kimmich

May 18, 1925 — February 10, 2017

Jeanne Fitzgerald Kimmich, Age 91, of Marietta, Ohio went home to be with her Lord on February 10, 2017 peacefully at Harmar Place with loved ones. Jeanne was born on May 18, 1925 in Pittsburgh, PA to loving parents Florence Douglas Fitzgerald and Robert John Fitzgerald. Jeanne was preceeded in death by her parents, husband of 36 years James (Jim) Edward Kimmich, and daughter Linda Kimmich Hensley.
Jeanne is survived by sons Edward Kimmich (Christine) and Keith Kimmich; and five grandchildren Emily Neff (Andrew), Leslie Seery (Justin), Robert Kimmich, Maggie Smith (Dave) and Jim Kimmich; four great-grandchildren Oliver Neff, Drew Neff, Linda Seery and Violet Seery; brother Robert Fitzgerald (Mary Lou); brother-in-law Ron Kimmich (Barb) and special nieces and nephews. Jeanne was very proud of her daughter, Linda, who was an accomplished artist and architect.
Jeanne's passion was art, especially painting classes and related activities with her friends in Marietta. Jeanne participated in and taught art lessons at the Betsy Mills Club in Marietta for many years. She was honored to be part of the art community in Marietta and she enjoyed her association with many of the area's fine artists and the Marietta Art League. Jeanne was recognized by Marietta College with the McDonough community leadership award.
Jeanne was also passionate about her Christian beliefs. For many years she actively participated in her Bible Study group which met at Glenwood and she always kept her Bible close to her side. She was very dedicated to her friends and her church, St. Luke's Episcopal Church in Marietta. Every year she focused on the St. Luke's annual bazaar with enthusiasm. She was a member of the PEO Sisterhood and the National Society of Arts and Letters.
Jeanne was also blessed with great neighbors and a great neighborhood in Devola for many years. She was an excellent cook and could always be counted-on for great feasts at family events and holidays. She was loved by her children and (especially) her grandchildren and she will be missed. Toward the end of Jeanne's life, she made great friendships with the caregivers at The Pines of Glenwood's assisted living apartments. The compassionate care Jeanne received was deeply appreciated by her and her family.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 29, 2017 at 11:00 am at St. Luke's Episcopal Church in Marietta. In lieu of flowers, donation memorials may be made to St. Luke's Episcopal Church or United Church Homes (The Pines at Glenwood and Harmar Place).
