Jerome A. Gerritzen

Jerome A. "Jerry" Gerritzen, 74, of Marietta, died Wednesday, February 12, 2014. He was born February 19, 1939 in Redwing, KS to Adolph and Mary Demel Gerritzen. Jerry was a U.S. Army veteran and retired from Union Carbide. He was a member of The Basilica of St. Mary of the Assumption and VFW Post #5108. Jerry is survived by his wife, Joyce Neely Gerritzen, a daughter, Wendy Carpenter (Craig) of Marietta, grandsons, Jacob and Caleb Carpenter, step grandsons, Eric and Josh Carpenter, three sisters, and a brother. He was preceded in death by a son, Jerome Scott Gerritzen. Funeral Liturgy, with Mass, will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 15, 2014, at The Basilica of St. Mary of the Assumption. Visitation will be at the Marietta Chapel of Cawley & Peoples Funeral Home on Saturday morning from 8 until 9:30. Burial will be in New St. Mary's Cemetery, with full military honors. Donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
