Jo Ann Greathouse

June 17, 1936 — October 23, 2019

Jo Ann Greathouse, 83, of Marietta, Ohio, died Wednesday, October 23, 2019 at Marietta Memorial Hospital, surrounded by her family who has lovingly cared of her for many years. She was born on June 17, 1936 in Mineral Wells, WV to Lester and Ethel Caplinger McKinney.

Jo Ann worked at B.F. Goodrich and the Washington County Sherriff's office as a cook. She loved canning, gardening and watching her grandchildren's activities. Her and her husband loved to travel in their camper, especially visiting the beach.

She is survived by two daughters, Darlene Dishong (Jon),whom she has lived with for the past six years and Debra Snider (Michael); three grandchildren, Amanda Scharff, Ashley Ndao and Scott Snider; great grandchildren, Caleb, Madelyn, Kayden, Christopher, Noah, Johnathan and Nik; sister, Carrie Talbott; and many nieces, nephews and extended family.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert E. Greathouse, whom she married on September 2, 1950 in Russell, KY; three brothers and two sisters.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 27, 2019, at the Marietta Chapel of Cawley & Peoples Funeral Home, with Pastor Pat Gragan officiating. Burial will follow in Valley Cemetery in Reno. Visitation will be on Saturday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Donations may be directed to the O'Neill Senior Center. Jo Ann's family would like to thank everyone at Hospice and the 2nd floor nursing staff at Marietta Memorial Hospital.
