Joan Berry Knowles, 80, of Marietta passed away Wednesday, September 18, 2019. She was born August 22, 1939 in Little Hocking, OH to the late Daniel O. and Anna Pearl Bennett Berry.
Following graduation from Belpre High School, she attended Bowling Green State University.
Joan had worked at Dils Department Store in Parkersburg, WV. She was a member of the First Congregational United Church of Christ in Marietta. She enjoyed her volunteer work at the church, was a member of the Dana Class, loved animals, reading, baking and poetry.
She is survived by two daughters, Lisa Knowles of Cleveland, OH and Debbie Lambeth (Joe) of Marietta; seven grandchildren, William Lambeth of Portland, Maine, Richard Lambeth of China, Chantel Lambeth of Saco, Maine, Daniel Lambeth (Michelle) of Marietta, Zachary (Amber), Nathaniel and Rebecca Maciag all of Marietta; two great-grandchildren, Joss Maciag and Owen Lambeth; beloved brother-in-law, Carl Rector; and sisters-in-law Ginny Berry and Shirley Knowles; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Joan married William Lloyd Knowles on December 23, 1957. He died January 8, 2010. Joan is also preceded in death by three brothers, John, Dan and Jack Berry; four sisters, Irma Hanger, Aileen Rector, Harriett Berry and Donna Burns.
Abiding with her wishes, she will be laid to rest beside her husband in Newberry Cemetery, with a private family committal service. A public memorial service will be November 29, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at First Congregational Church.
