Joan M. Tornes, 78, of Marietta, died Tuesday, March 30, 2010, at Marietta Memorial Hospital. She was born July 19, 1931 in Marietta to Edward and Odessa Zoller Alexander. She was a 1949 graduate of Marietta High School and continued to enjoy the company of her friends from school. She had retired from the gift shop at Fenton Art Glass. She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church. Joan loved her grandchildren and flower gardening. She is survived by two sons, David Tornes (Patrice) and Steven Tornes (Debra), all of Marietta; three grandchildren, Piper, Raynelle and Brianna Tornes; four step grandchildren, Angela Bartholow (Jamie), Amber Dunbarger (Fianc, Eric Scoggans), Aimee Dunbarger (Friend, Bobby Carney) and Chris Dunbarger (Amanda); five step great grandchildren, Avery, Peyton, Jason Bailey, Kari and Riley; many nieces and nephews and her dog, Lacey. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence R. Tornes on September 26, 1984, they had been married on April 2, 1954; also preceded by her sister, Norma Jean Alexander, and brothers, Don and Dean Alexander. Funeral Liturgy will be at 9:30 a.m. on Friday, April 2, 2010, at St. Mary Catholic Church, with the Rev. Msgr. John Michael Campbell officiating. Burial will be at East Lawn Memorial Park.
