Joanne Doan

November 9, 1930 — November 6, 2018

With immense pain we announce our mother's passing. Her precious teachings and her memory will be for all of us an example of righteousness and passion for life.
Joanne "Jean" Pickering Doan was born at home November 9, 1930, to the late Charles and Regina "Jean" Pickering and was one of three children. A brother, Charles "Buddy" Pickering (Jean) of Williamstown, WV preceded her death. She is survived by Reginald "Reggie" Pickering (Jan) of Reno, OH.
Following high school, class of 1949, she was employed at Woolworth's, Putnam Oil Co., Union Carbide, and Beren Oil Co. She was a member of Gilman United Methodist Church.
She married John Lester Doan on August 25, 1957. They celebrated 61 loving years together and is survived by him and three children, John "Jay" Doan (Rob) of Parkersburg, WV, Melissa Dalrymple (Bud) of Marietta, OH and Steve Doan (Brandie) of Marietta, OH; seven grandchildren, Blake Doan, Justine Wilson, Brianna Doan, Whitney Jean Doan, Aaron Winer, Ryan Carney, Jared Carney of Marietta, OH and eight great-grandchildren.
Memorial Services will be held at 11:00am Saturday, November 10, 2018 at the Marietta Chapel of Cawley & Peoples Funeral Home with Reggie Pickering officiating. There will be a Burial of Ashes in Putnam Cemetery following the service. The family will greet friends on Saturday from 10-11am. The family request that in lieu of flowers that donations be made in her name to the charity of the giver's choice.
