John Charles "Jack" Detlor, Sr. of Marietta, died Tuesday, March 10, 2015, at his home. He was born February 3, 1924 in Woodsfield to John Garrison and Dorothy Mae Adams Detlor. He was a graduate of Woodsfield High School. Jack enlisted in the U. S. Navy and served during WWII from 1943 to 1945. He was a 32nd degree Mason at Marietta Lodge #390 and had been their oldest living member. Jack had retired from Catalytic Shell in 1990, having been a foreman, carpenter and operating engineer. He had served as recording secretary of Millwrights Local #1755 in Parkersburg, WV. He was an avid hunter, fisherman and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. Jack is survived by his wife, Ruth Esther Skidmore Detlor, they were married August 1, 1953; children, John Detlor, Jr and his children, Jennifer Goddard (George), Jesse Detlor (Amanda) and Stacey Detlor; Debora Thomas (Ross) and their son, Kyle Thomas; Eric Detlor and his son, Jose Detlor (Aspa) and Jose's mother, Nora Miller; Brian Detlor and Leah Hardman and children, Brian Stark, Autumn, Jacob and Janessa Detlor; Rebecca Givens (Ricky) and their children, Haydon and Heath Givens and a foster son, Billy McAtee and son, Billy, Jr.; several great grandchildren, two sisters, Jean Ley and Lois Whiting and two special nephews, Eric Porter and John Bailey. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Beverly Bailey and Doris Hall. Abiding with his wishes, he was cremated and no services will be held at this time.
