Joyce Elaine Dorsey

May 29, 1935 — August 26, 2009

Joyce E. (Craig) Dorsey passed away on August 26, 2009, after an extended illness. Joyce was born in Fairmont, West Virginia, on May 29, 1935, one of three daughters and a son born to the late Wallace D. and Anne (Hagen) Craig of Fairmont, WV. She is survived by her husband William P. Dorsey; Son, William P. Dorsey; one brother Wallace Craig Jr. of Bridgeport, West Virginia; 12 nieces and nephews; two brothers-in-law, Donald C. Dorsey and wife Jerry, of Scottsdale, Arizona and Fred Bartlett of Hyattsville, Maryland. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by two sisters, Stella (Craig) Bartlett, Hyattsville, Maryland; Barbara (Craig) Dorsey Clarksburg, WV; Brother-In-Law Daniel M. Dorsey Jr., Clarksburg WV. Joyce was a graduate of Stephens College, earning an Associate in Arts and a B.S. at Northwestern University. She was a member of the honorary sorority Sigma Gamma Gamma; American Association of University Women; National Education Association. Joyce enjoyed her work as a public school teacher for twenty nine years. She was employed by the Prince George County School system in Hyattsville, Maryland and Marietta City Schools. Mrs. Dorsey attended the First Presbyterian Church, Marietta, Ohio and the Putnam Congregational Church in Devola. Memorial services will be published at a later date. In lieu of flowers the family wishes memorial contributions be made to the Humane Society of the Ohio Valley at 1210 County House Lane, Marietta, Ohio 45750.
