Julia Emma "Judy" Britton, 70, of Fleming, Ohio, died Monday, September 16, 2019 at Marietta Memorial Hospital. She was born on July 5, 1949, in Fleming, Ohio, to William and Elizabeth Huck Schilling.
Years ago, Judy worked for Ohio Valley Cable, then in 1979, she took over the family business and began Britton Upholstery. She was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Catholic Women's Club and St. John's School Boosters. Judy enjoyed all activities involving her family and grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband, Kenneth Britton, whom she married on November 27, 1971; three children, Tina Mayer of Fleming, Kenna Ellison (Jesse) of Williamstown, WV, and William Britton (Ashley) of Charleston, WV; six grandchildren, Noelle Mayer, Nicholas and Charlie Ellison and Brady, Blake and Bailey Britton; six sisters, Barb Martin (Kyle) of Waterford, Betty Harmon (Ted) of Beverly, Sue Hart of Beverly, Carolyn Miller of Waterford, Debbie Kuhn (Steve) of Columbus, and Denise Reed (Mike) of Rock Springs, Wyoming; one brother, Bernard Schilling (Marilyn) of Waterford; sisters in law, Lillian Schilling of Beverly, Marcie Warne of Marietta and Betty Britton of Marietta; brothers in law, Bob Mayo (Patty) of Williamstown, Dave Britton (Diane) of Marietta, Larry Britton (Ginny) of Marietta and Tom Britton (Becky) of Lowell; and many nieces, nephews and extended family.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her parents in law, Charles and Elizabeth (Casto) Britton; son in law, Stuart Mayer; sister, Ruth Mayo; two brothers, Nelson and Charles Schilling; brothers in law, Dave Miller, Ted Hart, Don Warne, and Paul and Bob Britton and Bill Vanwey; and sister in law, Diane Vanwey.
Funeral Liturgy with Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, September 20, 2019, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Churchtown, with The Rev. Timothy Davison celebrating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be on Thursday from 2 to 8 p.m. at the Marietta Chapel of Cawley & Peoples Funeral Home, with the Rosary being prayed at 7:45 p.m.
