Julia Mae Malone

Julia Mae Malone, 90, of Marietta, died Tuesday, March 5, 2013, at her residence. She was born July 12, 1922 in Marietta to James A. and Alma Christina Pfaff Malone. Julia had been a co-owner of Crystal Beverage Company in Marietta, having worked there for 60 years. She was a member of the First Congregational United Church of Christ, where she had served on all church boards, was a member of the Women's Fellowship, and the Dana Class. Julia graduated from Marietta High School, attended Marietta Business College, and was a member of the Lamda Chi Omega Business Sorority. She is survived by five nieces and their husbands, Rebecca Shroyer (Doug) of Columbus, Roberta Mayer (John) of Marietta, Jacqueline Ley (Mike) of Atwood Lake, Mariann McFarland (Bill) of Marietta and Diana Goddard (Ron) of Marietta, eleven great nieces and nephews and fourteen great great nieces and nephews, as well as her sister in law, Gladys Malone, of Williamstown. She was preceded in death by her brother, Jack, and a great nephew. Funeral services will be held at the Marietta Chapel of Cawley & Peoples Funeral Home on Saturday, March 9, 2013, at 1:00 p.m. with the Rev. Linda Steelman officiating. The family will greet friends on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Gospel Mission of Marietta, Harmar Food Pantry, P.O. Box 6, or Marietta Home Health & Hospice, 450 Pike St., Suite I-1, Marietta, OH 45750. The family wishes to express thanks to all of Julia's caregivers over the years, especially Sharon Johnson, who has been Julia's long term companion, friend, as well as a caregiver.
