June Rose Davis, 88, of Lowell, died Thursday, August 25, 2011, at her home. She was born August 2, 1923 in Watertown to Brooks and Dottie Marie McGrew Jennings. June had worked in the cafeterias at Lowell Elementary School, Fort Frye High School, and B.F. Goodrich, retiring in 1982. She was instrumental in getting the Veterans Memorial in Lowell erected. She was a 65 year member of the Lowell Christian Church. She was a charter member of the Lowell American Legion Auxiliary, Unit #750, Lowell Temple #230, Pythian Sisters, where she had served as Grand Chief and District Deputy, also a member of the Women of the Moose, #1363. June is survived by one son, Brooks Davis, and his wife, Patty, six grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, and a daughter in law, Rose Davis. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John Wylie Davis in 1989, two sons, Galen and John K., and her sister, Jean Wallace. Funeral services will be held at the Lowell Chapel of Cawley & Peoples Funeral Home on Tuesday, August 30, 2011, at 11:00 a.m. Friends may call on Monday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. There will be services conducted by the Pythian Sisters at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
