Katharine Haddad Connors, 95, residing in Port Washington, New York, formerly of Marietta, died peacefully on June 20, 2012. Born March 26, 1917 in Marietta, Ohio, daughter of Joseph and Anna Haddad of 611 Third Street, she was a graduate of Marietta High School, Class of 1935. She was also a contestant for the Miss Marietta Contest. Kay, as she was known, worked in her family's business, The Ohio Valley Grocery, from 1935 to 1950 as bookkeeper. She married Clifford J. Connors, whom she met while he was a student at Marietta College, in September 1947 in Plymouth, MA. The couple moved to Chappaqua, New York in 1950 with their first child Marianne, and owned a business together. Mr. Connors died in 1998. Kay retired in 1986 from the Westchester County Dept. of Social Services. Kay is predeceased by her parents, her brothers Leo and Andrew, her sister Mary Louise Shamoun, her sister in law Ruth Haddad, and brother in law George Shamoun. She is survived by her daughters Marianne Connors and Nadine Connors Genova, her grandchildren, Zoe M. Genova and Alexander R. Genova, and her sister Elizabeth Dempster, and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at St. Luke's Episcopal Church on Thursday, June 28, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow in Valley Cemetery. Visitation will be on Wednesday, from 5-8 p.m. at the Marietta Chapel of Cawley & Peoples Funeral Home.
