Kenneth Herman Heiss

Kenneth Herman Heiss, 86, of Marietta, Ohio, died Saturday, June 20, 2020 at Marietta Memorial Hospital. He was born on February 22, 1934 in Waterford, Ohio, to William James and Marcella Florence Rauch Heiss.

Kenny was a 1952 graduate of Waterford High School. He served his country in the U.S. Army during the Cold War, serving in Germany for 18 months. Kenny was Co-Owner of Heiss Brothers, Inc, building homes for 32 years until his retirement in 1999. He was a member of The Basilica of St. Mary of the Assumption, where he was on the finance council and was head of the building and grounds committee. Kenny was also a member of the Knights of Columbus, 4th Degree, American Legion Post 64, was the founder of Country Roads T&A Club, served on the Washington County Planning Commission, and was Past President of Washington County Home Builders.

He is survived by his wife, Sharon Marlene Noe Heiss, whom he married on May 30, 1960; three children, Catherine Johnson (Greg) of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Douglas Heiss (special friend, Farrell Johnson) of Marietta; and Michelle Carter (Scott) of Marysville, Ohio; grandchildren, Michael, Rachel, Patrick, Vanessa and Laurel; siblings, Joan Hickman of Fairless Hills, Pennsylvania, Robert Heiss of Marietta, and Mary Campbell of Waterford; brother in law, Larry Noe of Marietta, Ohio; and many nieces and nephews, especially Teresa & Pat Huck.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and siblings, Rita Mae Leopold, Edith Lauer, and Ronald, Jack and Billy Heiss.

Kenny's family will greet friends at the Marietta Chapel of Cawley & Peoples Funeral Home on Tuesday, June 23 from 2-4 and 6-8 pm, with a Vigil service held at 3:00 p.m. Funeral Liturgy with Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 24, 2020 at the Basilica of St. Mary of the Assumption, with The Rev. Msgr. John Michael Campbell celebrating. Burial will follow in East Lawn Memorial Park, with full military honors observed.

Please be advised that social distancing will be observed and the family requires that attendees please wear a mask. One will be provided if you do not bring one. Friends are asked not to linger following greeting of the family on Tuesday.
