Laverne Lou Dye, 84, of Marietta, died Saturday, November 9, 2013, at Marietta Memorial Hospital. She was born March 11, 1929 in Marietta to Orville "Dick" and Elva McCormick Jones. She was a 1947 graduate of Marietta High School. She had retired from ODOT, and prior to that had worked for Washington County Clerk of Courts, Peoples Bank, and Marietta College. Laverne was a member of Central Christian Church. She enjoyed needlepoint, cross stitch and crocheting. She was a very loving wife, mother, and friend and her uplifting spirit was loved by all and will be carried by many. Laverne is survived by her three sons, Michael (Joyce) of Huntsville, Alabama, Steve (Karen) of Marietta and Jeff (special friend, Missy) of Marietta, two step granddaughters, Abby and Brittany Hearn of Marietta, a sister, Jo Noble of Woodbury, California and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack David Dye, on November 28, 2011, also by a brother, Daryl Jones and a sister, Vera Gorham. Funeral services will be held at the Marietta Chapel of Cawley & Peoples Funeral Home on Tuesday, November 12, 2013,at 11:00 a.m. with the Rev. Janice Hill officiating. Friends may call for one hour prior to her service. Burial will be at Oak Grove Cemetery. Donations may be made to Central Christian Church, 807 Colegate Drive, Marietta, Ohio 45750.
