Leo Hassler Antons, 71, of Marietta, Ohio passed away on Thursday, June 21, 2018 in Marietta. He was born April 5, 1947 in Columbus, Ohio and was the son to the late Aloys and Maria Hassler Antons.
Leo was a graduate of Ohio University where he earned a degree in Journalism. He was a member of The Basilica of St. Mary of the Assumption and was active in the St. Vincent de Paul Society. Leo volunteered and delivered Franciscan Meals and had been a member of the Marietta Jaycees.
Leo's career in corporate sales lasted more than 35 years where he represented Xerox, 3M, Commerce Clearing House, and J.B. Lippincott, later Wolters Publishing.
Antons' hobbies included the propagation and management of arborvitae at his home, which was built by his grandparents and parents, immigrants from southwestern Germany.
Leo is survived by his wife Mary Hoye Antons, two sons, Erik Antons (Beth) of Chicago, IL; Eli Antons (Ruth) of Baltimore, MD; four grandchildren: Isaac, Asa, Malachi, Joel Antons and one sister, Ann Miller (Larry) of Phoenix, AZ.
Funeral Liturgy with Mass will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, June 27, 2018 at The Basilica of St. Mary of the Assumption, with Rev. Msgr. John Michael Campbell as celebrant. The family will greet friends on Tuesday, 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Marietta Chapel of Cawley & Peoples Funeral Home, with a Vigil Service held at 4:00 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to St. Vincent de Paul Society, 506 Fourth Street, Marietta, Ohio 45750
