Leonard Collins "Len" Wholey, 89, of Marietta, OH and Englewood, FL, died Thursday, February 16, 2012, at The Pines. He was born January 6, 1923 in Dracut, MA to Matthew and Mary Helena Fenlon Wholey. He was a World War II veteran, serving in the Army Air Corps. He started working for General Electric after graduation from high school, then was in executive leadership with them. Following that, he served as President of Hitachi Metals Corp., in North America, retiring in 1984. Len devoted his time after retirement to the Loveland Charity in Florida, where he was President of the Board. He enjoyed golfing and driving cross country. Len was a loving husband of 65 years and father of two daughters. Surviving are his wife, Margaret "Peg" Flannigan Wholey, brother, Kevin Wholey (June) of Englewood, FL, sister, Janet Mulligan (Jimmy) of Lowell, MA, four grandchildren, Melissa Young, Mark Young (Bridget), Margaret Boersma (Ben) and Gordon McCarthy (Wendy), seven great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his two daughters, Kathleen Beyer and Karen Herrick. There will be a memorial mass held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, February 20, 2012, at St. Mary Catholic Church in Marietta, with the Rev. Msgr. John Michael Campbell as celebrant.
