Leora Lois Wetz, 93, formerly of Lowell and Oak Grove area, died Wednesday, November 18, at The Manor at Whitehall. She was born September 7, 1916 in Eddyville, NE to Walter Curtis and Lois Matilda Fox Bryner. She was a member of St. John's Evangelical Church in Lowell. Leora had been a 4-H adviser for several years and had volunteered at Marietta Memorial Hospital for the American National Red Cross. She enjoyed quilting with friends of the Oak Grove Missionary Society and had quilted the Land Office square and worked with others for over two years for the completion of the Bicentennial Quilt, which was entered in various quilt shows around the country. Leora enjoyed working in her flower garden and sharing starts with others. Her grandchildren were the apples of her eye. Leora had been a resident of the Appletree Assisted Living in Barlow before going to The Manor, at Whitehall. A special thanks to all who cared for her. She is survived by a son, Edward Ernest Wetz of Sierra Vista, AZ, a daughter, Carolyn Lois Stewart (Melvin) of Ashville, OH, five grandchildren, Eric Edward Wetz (Melissa) of Auburn, MI, Christina Olsson (Lars) of Lockborn, OH, Daniel Stewart (Lara) of Stevensville, MI, Melinda Fox (Brent) of Lagrange, KY and Valorie Winslow (Greg) of Lexington, OH, nine great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest Daniel Wetz on February 22, 1998, they had been married on September 12, 1936, also by three brothers, Bertie Frederick, Dennis Walter and George Edward Bryner. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, November 24, 2009, at 2:00 p.m. at the Lowell Chapel of Cawley & Peoples Funeral Home. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery. Friends may call on Monday from 4 to 8 p.m. and anytime on Tuesday, where the family will be present for one hour prior to her service.
