Mabel Helena Dillon, 94, of Marietta, Ohio, died on Monday, April 19, 2021 at Harmar Place in Marietta. She was born on March 31, 1927 in Rinard Mills, Ohio, to Thurman Gail and Phena Jane Nalley Piatt.
Mabel retired from Broughton Foods after 35 years of making ice cream. She was a member of the Sixth & Washington Streets Church of Christ, Stepping Stones and Order of Eastern Star, where she was a 50-year member. Mabel cooked for Civitan and senior citizens, helped with the trolley tours in Marietta and loved quilting.
She is survived by her daughter, Carolyn Hart (Jimmie); two grandchildren, Mark Hart and Karla Higgins (Mike); two great grandchildren, Dalton & Austin Higgins; sister, Ruth Lisk; two sisters in law, Annie and Anna Lee Piatt; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by two grandchildren, Jammie and Tony Hart; brothers, Charles, Herber, Harry, Forest, Lester, Ray, Carl and Clarence Piatt; brother in law, Mervin "Jr" Lisk; and sisters in law, Imogene and Maxine Piatt.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 24, 2021 at the Marietta Chapel of Cawley & Peoples Funeral Home, with Roger Rush officiating. Burial will follow in East Lawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be for two hours prior to the services on Saturday. Masks will be required and social distancing will be observed.
