Mabel F Rowland

Mabel F. Rowland, 82, of Layman, Ohio, died Wednesday, December 30, 2015 in Marietta. She was born on September 17, 1933 to the late Clifford and Stella Hammons Hopkins. Mabel married Ralph "Dean" Rowland on August 2, 1950, he died on September 13, 1999. She was a member of Layman United Methodist Church and attended Liberty Church in Chesterhill. Mabel was also a member of the Ladies Aide, enjoyed attending bible study, and loved needlework, flower gardening, especially yellow roses, and loved collecting angels. She is survived by her daughter, Donna Coats (Roy) of Jackson, TN, two sons, Monte Rowland (Joy) of Cutler and Danny Rowland (Becky) of Belpre, nine grandchildren, Craig, Michael and Scott Coats, Tracee Crews, Buddy Rowland, Jeannie Miller, Shelly Warehime, Ashley Yost and Lyndsey Bennett, 16 great grandchildren, a brother, Michael "Pete" Hopkins (Saundra) of Trouttown, PA, a sister, Nancy McFarland of Warsaw, Ohio, several nieces and nephews, and best friend, Jean Gribble. Along with her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her longtime friend, Carlos "Shorty" Graham and nine siblings. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 2, 2016 at the Barlow Chapel of Cawley & Peoples Funeral Home, with the Rev. David Hubbard officiating. Burial will follow in Layman Cemetery. Family will greet friends from 11:00 a.m. until time of service on Saturday.
