Margaret Ann Francis Carpenter, 89, of Belpre, OH, died at her home surrounded by her loving family on Saturday, May 26, 2018. She was born on April 13, 1929, along with her identical twin, Marjorie Marie, near Belpre, OH, daughters of the late George "Todd" and Frances Jones Francis.
She is survived by her husband of 70 years, Bernard Carpenter, two daughters, Penny (John) Hall, of Vincent, and Mary (Jean) Yost, of Cutler; one son, Gene Carpenter, of Belpre; seven grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren; three sisters, Marjorie Johnson, Patsy McVey and Phyllis Gregory; one brother, Roy Francis; and many nieces and nephews. Margaret was preceded in death by her sister, Norma Johnson.
She had worked at the Marietta Box Factory, Forma Scientific, Zide's Sports Shop and the Williamstown Auction House. Margaret loved to bake pies, as well as visiting and talking with people.
She had been a member of the Constitution Methodist Church, where she taught Sunday School for many years. Later she became a member of the Belpre Heights United Methodist Church, where she was active with the Women's Group and had graciously helped with many church dinners and other activities. Margaret also loved to quilt and crochet.
We know today that Heaven has received a beautiful lady who makes the sun shine when she smiles.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 am Wednesday, May 30, 2018 at the Barlow Chapel of Cawley & Peoples Funeral Home, with The Rev. Rodney Brower officiating. Burial will be at Tunnel Cemetery. Margaret's family will greet friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, from 2-4 and6-8 pm Tuesday.
Margaret loved helping others in need, and therefore a gift for that purpose in her memory may be directed to the Belpre Heights United Methodist Church, 720 Clement Ave., Belpre, OH 45714.
Her family especially wants to say "Thank You" to her Caregivers Tammy Curry and Ginny Caldwell during her illness. They were such a comfort for all the family because of the great care they provided. They also wish to thank Hospice for the care given their mother.
