M. Jeanne Tasse, 94, of Marietta, Ohio, passed away on Sunday, January 12, 2020 at Heartland of Marietta. She was born in Worcester, Massachusetts, on March 25, 1925 to Paul C. and Antoinette M DesRosiers Tasse. Dr. Tasse received her Ph.D. from Boston University and taught for many years at Anna Maria College in Paxton, Massachusetts and at Marietta College.
She was dedicated to the arts and was a member of the National Society of Arts and Letters, served as National President and organized the Winston Scholarships. She served on the Boards of N.S.A.L., the Anna Maria College Advisory Board, Artsbridge, and the Blennerhassett Historical Foundation Board.
She founded the Marietta Calligraphy Society, organized the Marietta College Institute for Learning in Retirement, the By Woman's Hands Art Exhibitions and the Peoples Bank Art Exhibitions. She was also active in the field of Music, directing church choirs and participating in the Marietta Chorale.
She received Art Educator Awards from Artsbridge, Anna Maria College, Marietta College, and was the Zonta Woman of the Year in 2006.
Jeanne is survived by her sister, Therese Hebert from Massachusetts and several nephews and nieces, and grand nephews and nieces.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers Claude, Charles and Pierre Paul and sisters, Carolyn Best and Claudyne Pearson.
Funeral Liturgy with Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 18, 2020 at The Basilica of St. Mary of the Assumption, with The Rev. Msgr. John Michael Campbell celebrating. Visitation will be on Friday evening from 5 to 7 p.m. with a Vigil service at 7 p.m. at the Marietta Chapel of Cawley & Peoples Funeral Home. There will be a memorial service In Worcester, MA at a later date.
