Martha Ann Kestermeier, 86, formerly of Marietta, Ohio, died Thursday, June 22, 2017 at her and her twin sister's home in Hamilton, Virginia. She was born on June 28, 1930 in Marietta, Ohio, to Albert Henry and Eleanor Mae Snodgrass Kestermeier.
Martha got her Bachelor of Science from St. Mary of the Springs in Columbus, Ohio, and her Masters in Zoology from the Catholic University of America. She was a Dominican Nun for 20 years and taught high school biology, zoology and scientific writing for 50 years.
Martha was a current member of St. Francis DeSales Catholic Church in Purcellville, Virginia. She was a member of many teaching organizations over the years and she and her sister enjoyed buying and selling antiques.
She is survived by her twin sister, Mary K. Bruch of Hamilton; two nieces, Elise Bruch of Portland, Oregon and Miriam Burton (Alton) of Bethesda, Maryland; four great nieces and nephews, A.J. Burton, Esq., Cal Burton, M.D., Kim Bonilla and Tori Burton; a great-great niece and nephew, D.J. and Marianna Bonilla; and her brother in law, Carl W. Bruch.
Funeral Liturgy with Mass will be held on her birthday, Wednesday, June 28, 2017, at 10:00 a.m. at the Basilica of St. Mary of the Assumption, with The Rev. Msgr. John Michael Campbell celebrating. Burial will follow in New St. Mary's Cemetery. There will be no visitation.
