Martha Louise Lynch

Martha Louise 'Martie" Lynch, 75, departed from this earth on Saturday, June 5, 2010, at Marietta Memorial Hospital from cancer complications. Martha was born on November 19, 1934 in Clarksburg, WV, the daughter of Mary L. Bailey Newlon of Sardis, WV, who survives at age 101, and the late Harvey Bailey and late stepfather, Norval Newlon. On August 26, 1955, she was married to Jack Lynch, who survives, they celebrated 54 years of marriage. She is also survived by one daughter, Kimberly Mullen, and her husband, James, of Williamstown, WV and grandson, Matthew Robinson, one son, Mark Lynch of Santee, CA, and granddaughters, Alicia and Amanda Lynch of Marietta. She also has three step grandchildren, Tim Mullen and wife, Amy, of Cape Cod, MA, Amy Francis and husband, Jamie, of Marietta, and Ashley Thomas of Marietta, and three step great grandchildren, Scott Thomas and Caden and Conor Francis. She has one sister, Mary D. Minigh and husband, Steve, of Gregory Run, WV, one brother, Howard Bailey of Sardis, two stepsisters, Joy Adams and husband, Homer, of Anmoore, WV and Melody Anthony and husband, Spencer, of Oklahoma City, OK, as well as several special nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a sister, Anna May Freeland. Martha was an active member of the Tunnel United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women and was a volunteer at the Western Washington County Food Pantry. She graduated from Lumberport High School in 1951. She had retired from the Washington County Career Center in 1992, following 20 years of secretarial services. Prior to that, she had worked at Cole's Tire, Citizens National Bank. Martie enjoyed traveling and especially loved the beach and spending time with her family. She was a special wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend. Words cannot express how much she will be missed and the void she will leave in everyone's lives that knew and loved her. She brought happiness to the world. Her funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. On Wednesday, June 9, 2010, at the Marietta Chapel of Cawley & Peoples Funeral Home, with Pastor Richard Thomas officiating. Burial will be at East Lawn Memorial Park. Her visitation will be on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. And up until time of services on Wednesday. The family suggests donations to the Western Washington County Food Pantry, 18 High St., Vincent, OH 45784.
