Mary Margaret Emge

Mary M. Emge, 76, of Marietta, Ohio died on Monday, July 15, 2024 at Waterview Pointe, following a brief battle with cancer. She was born on November 11, 1947 in Marietta, to Albert and Margene Harbaugh Emge.

Mary graduated from Warren High School in 1965 and attended Washington State Community College. She was employed by Eramet Marietta and retired after 32 years in November of 2000. Mary was a member of the Basilica of St. Mary of the Assumption, where she served as an Adult Acolyte, Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion, Resurrection Choir and bingo. She was a member of the Rambling Red Hatters and RSVP. Mary enjoyed movies, volunteering, her animals and special times with her friends and family.

She is survived by her nephew, Todd (Aimee) Emge; and great nephews, Tristan and Harrison; brother, Michael (Jan) Emge; niece, Holly Highley (Grant); and her heart sister, Barbara McNeil. Mary is also survived by a group of very wonderful friends along with her faithful fur companions, Bandit, Henry and Misty.

She was preceded in death by her father, Albert Emge (1977); mother Margene Emge Shaffer (1992); and step father, Donald Shaffer (2012).

Funeral Liturgy with Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 27, 2024 at the Basilica of St. Mary of the Assumption, with The Rev. Msgr. John Michael Campbell celebrating. Burial will follow in St. John’s Catholic Cemetery in Churchtown. Visitation will be on Friday from 4 to 7 at the MARIETTA CHAPEL OF CAWLEY & PEOPLES FUNERAL HOME, with a Vigil service held at 4:30 p.m.
