Mary Madeline Whipkey

March 13, 1925 — June 18, 2015

Mary Madeline Reed-Whipkey, 90, of Marietta passed away on Thursday, June 18, 2015, at The Arbors of Marietta. She was born on March 13, 1925 in Layman, Ohio to Willard Ermine and Sadie Bachelor Reed. She was a graduate of Vincent High School. She is survived by her daughter, Sara (Bernie) Schilling and grandson, Brandon, all of Marietta; niece, Cheryl (Ronald) Miracle of Williamstown, WV; several great nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, sister, Madge Reed, brother, Ed Reed, sister in law, Doris Reed and five step children. Madeline was an animal lover and will be missed by the family cats and dog. In lieu of flowers, please make contributions to the Humane Society of The Ohio Valley. The family would like to thank the staff at The Arbors for their wonderful care during her illness. Services will be held at noon on Monday, June 22, 2015, at the Marietta Chapel of Cawley & Peoples Funeral Home. The Rev. Msgr. John Michael Campbell will be officiating. Friends may call on Monday from 10:00 a.m. up until time of her service. Burial will be in Barlow Central Cemetery.
